Nestled within the APPENZELLER HUUS lies one of Switzerland’s most remarkable wine cellars. Cellar master Hans Rhyner invites you to wine tastings – exclusively in the ‘wine barrel’ for up to nine people, surrounded by the cellar atmosphere.

At APPENZELLER HUUS, wine is our passion. Cellar master Hans Rhyner has traveled to vineyards all over the world, learning the meaning of craftsmanship, passion, and patience. He is particularly fascinated by small estates where much of the work is still done by hand and every detail counts.

Today, the historic vaults and the 350-square-meter extension in the HUUS QUELL combine to form what is arguably Switzerland’s most extraordinary wine cellar at the APPENZELLER HUUS. A finely curated selection of old wines, fine champagnes and rarities is waiting to be discovered. Upon request, exclusive guided tours of the wine cellar are also available.

There are various options for tastings. A special highlight is the ‘wine barrel’: an exclusive room in the middle of the wine cellar that can accommodate up to nine people. Those who take a seat here feel as if they are sitting inside a barrel – surrounded by the house's wine treasures.
