The Bärenstobe stands for elevated dining in a historic setting – deeply rooted in the region and thoughtfully modern.

The Bärenstobe brings tradition and modernity together: In the historic rooms of the guesthouse, first mentioned in 1751, guests experience fine dining in the Appenzellerland – with an Appenzell soul and an international twist.

From Thursday to Saturday, Executive Chef Michael Gollenz serves a tasting menu of either 5 or 7 courses. The focus is on outstanding regional products, fresh ingredients and modern preparation methods, combined with flavours from around the world. The result is a cuisine deeply rooted in the region, yet interpreted in a surprising and contemporary way.
